DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN PARTNERSHIP JOINS “CHILLIN ON DA CORNER & BEYOND” TO BRING NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL LATINO FILM FESTIVAL TO BROOKLYN.
The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership(DBP) is lending a helping hand to “Chillin on Da Corner & Beyond” (CODC) and comes on board to offer marketing sponsorship for the 11th annual New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF) kick off event.  This year’s NYLIFF launch will not only celebrate NYILFF’s 11th anniversary and the 2nd year of the CineDulce Showcase but will also act as a fundraiser for CODC.This will be NYILFF’s first venture into Brooklyn.  The festivities are to be held on Monday July, 26th, 2010 at The Irondale Center (www.Irondale.org) 85 South Oxford Street Brooklyn, NY.
As the star of NYILFF 2009 best film winner “Inside a Change” Ephraim Benton, co-founder of CODC has a great affinity to NYILFF and wanted to be involved in both celebrating and broadening awareness amongst the Brooklyn Latino community.  The evening’s proceedings will feature a collection of short films produced by HBO that have opened the previous festival screenings, and subsequently aired. (Titles include: Betty La Flaca, Hispanola, and others) Attendees can look forward to programming from 2nd Annual CineDulce Showcase with films like “The Night Catches Us” starring Anthony Mackie, and Keri Washington, “1 Day” all the way from the U.K., and “Spare Change” produced by Miles Maker, and written/directed by Suzette “Azaraih” Gunn. The featured film presentation is the 2007 Heineken Red Star Filmmaker Award Winner “TAKE THE BRIDGE” directed by Sergio M. Castilla.  As a fundraiser there is a suggested donation at the door of $10.00.  With industry insiders, special invited guests and exclusive sneak peeks of what to expect at the film festival this evening is sure to be monumental.
